GOOD WORD 8TH ANNIVERSARY – THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!
As the dust settled on our epic 1-month-long anniversary celebration, we sat back and took stock of what was one of the most intense, fun, and delicious months for us here at GWB.
We’re always trying to go big here, throwing out some great food, beer, cocktails, and entertainment all in the name of hospitality. It’s just what we do. And, naturally, after that dust has settled, we throw ourselves right into the next thing. Heck, we all do that, right? However, it’s real important to take a breath, see what you accomplished, and relive those memories. So, what did go down in November?! Let’s have a look at some numbers!
6,337 beers drank – y’all were thirsty!
168 features sold, on top of all our regular menu items.
10 events across the whole month
9 collab beers released with friends from all over the country
7 guest chefs taking over our kitchen
3 live music sets to keep the party going
2 guest bar appearances to throw out some delicious cocktails on top of those beers
1 beer dinner – because a GWB party ain’t one without it!
Crazy numbers, right?! Well, let’s break it down for you and have a look back at how we arrived there! To kick things off, George Yu from our neighbors Noona came over and cooked up some really delicious features, while we partied with our friends at Godspeed for the launch of our Czech Pale Lager collab, Světle Pivo 10°. The beer is tasty, folks, and is still pouring and available in cans right now – go grab some!

We then had FIVE events in 7 days, releasing Southbound Pipeline (with Almanac), Digital Afterlife (with Little Cottage), Both/And, and Free From Nothing At All (both with Burial). In that short time, DJ BlaqMozart was on the decks twice, we had live music from Diamondback Band, beers and cocktails were flying, features from our very own Todd, and from Brick Store’s Bernard went down, but in the midst of all that, we managed to pull off the mother of all beer dinners! That beer dinner with our friends Burial from Asheville saw our executive chef Brian Crain throw out an incredible 264 plates of food! All expertly paired with beers from us and Burial, including our two collabs! It was an incredible evening, with far too much food and beer consumed, but that’s just how it goes. We love our beer dinner crew and can’t thank you enough for your continued support!

The following week, we leaned a little more towards the cocktails, with guest bar appearances from both Adam Rowe (LEON’s) and the team from Murrell’s Row. Andy Gonzalez from The Companion was also here, throwing out incredible features, and we launched a beautiful American Porter with our friends at Tributary – Passage to Albion. Passage to Albion is tasting delicious, y’all, and it’s the PERFECT beer for this chilly winter weather. Come and grab some while you can!

We had a little bit of a break to recover (seriously, we needed it!) before heading into the final stretch of our celebrations. Shay Lavi from Third Space, alongside our own Brian Crain devised this wicked plan to serve up tasty food from behind the bar. Ambitious, and a lil bit bonkers, but take over that bar they did! It was a great time, and a perfectly convivial way to head into Thanksgiving. Then, on Black Friday, we finished off our celebrations with a BANG! Finally Here, our collab with Everywhere Beer Co, and Nostalgia Farming, our West Coast IPA with Fonta Flora dropped alongside features from DANK’s Deli. By that time, all of our beers had launched, and I don’t think y’all will ever see a more handsome beer list than we had on that night. Y’all came out in droves to drink, chat, and have a great post-Thanksgiving night out. It warmed our hearts to see the beers flowing and the kitchen serving up delicious food amongst the hustle and bustle of our or pub in Duluth.

Just like that, a whole month of celebrations concluded. So much beer, so much food, and so much fun. We couldn’t do any of this without you guys, and for that, we want to say THANK YOU!
Now, let’s get planning for next year…
