SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 13TH ’25 – LES BON INVITATIONAL IV

We’re excited to announce the return of Les Bon, our annual festival celebrating one of the most incredible pairings around: saison and oysters.

Les Bon, derived from the French saying, “Laissez les bons temps rouler” or “Let the good times roll,” was first inspired by Todd DiMatteo, owner and brewer of Good Word Brewing, and his desire to showcase Saisons and other fermented beverages that are sometimes overlooked within the craft brewing scene.

Saisons are a varied and unique beer. Some possess funk and nuisance that can be elusive and hard to get right during the brewing and fermentation process making a mystery to even the most skilled brewers. This style of beer originated in southern Belgium and rose to great interest in the U.S. in the early 2000’s but has since waned in popularity.  DiMatteo states, “Saisons and mixed culture beers are simple at their core but can be difficult to execute at a high level.” Les Bon will feature almost 2 dozen of the country’s best producers of saison and mixed fermentation beer, including Barrique Brewing & Blending, Creature Comforts, Schilling, Perennial Artisan Ales, Good Word Brewing, and more!

Les Bon also includes some incredible Oyster farmers. Mera Brothers, Awh Shucks Oyster Co, and Seashore Oyster Co will be part of the event, sharing and shucking their oysters.

We will also have music by DJ Fernando, and Diamondback to soundtrack the day and keep the party going!

The romantic and mysterious quality of fermented beers is comparable to that of the oyster.  “It’s wild and beautiful how something so delicate and small like the oyster can taste so incredibly delicious, while also putting in work. These wondrous little bivalves filter up to 50 gallons of water a day,” DiMatteo states.  Oysters are the perfect pairing for Saisons and other fermented beers, given the ways that the various brines of oysters pair with the funk of ciders and the light acidity of fermented beers.

Back for its 4th year and set right outside our front doors in Parson’s Alley, Les Bon will run form 1 pm to 5 pm. Les Bon is not an all-inclusive festival, but an a-la-carte event, with each $4 ticket redeemable for either 1 pour of beer, or 2 shucked oysters.

See ya there!
